Retort pouches are flexible packaging materials with a multi-layered composite structure, capable of withstanding high-temperature, high-pressure sterilization at 121°C, achieving commercial aseptic processing of the contents. After simultaneous sterilization of the packaging and contents, they can achieve a shelf life of 12-18 months at room temperature, requiring no refrigeration or added preservatives.
Technical Characteristics
Structural Design: Standard retort pouches employ a three-layer composite structure: an outer PET (polyester film) layer provides printability and mechanical strength; a middle AL (aluminum foil) or NY (nylon) layer provides high barrier properties; and an inner CPP (cast polypropylene) layer ensures heat-sealing strength and food safety contact. For special needs, a transparent high-barrier structure (such as PET/SiOx/CPP) can be used instead of the aluminum foil layer.
